Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 October 2026
The short version. Your drives are stored on your iPhone and there is no account. We don't use your location, we don't read your photos, and we don't sell your data or show ads. To plot a drive, the text you type is sent to an AI service, and the route points it picks are sent to a routing service.
Milestone ("we", "us") is an iPhone app that turns drives you remember into a map. This policy explains what stays on your phone and what doesn't.
What's stored on your iPhone
- The drives you add: the text you wrote, the route, the year, the countries and places, and the car or bike you name.
- Settings and state the app needs to run.
This stays on your device. Deleting a drive in the app removes it, and deleting the app removes everything. We don't keep a copy.
What leaves your phone
- Drive text, to plot it. When you tap Plot, the text you typed is sent to an AI service (Google Gemini). It finds the drives in your text and picks route points, countries and places. Please don't put names, addresses or phone numbers in drive text.
- Route points, to follow the road. The points picked for each drive are sent to a routing service (OSRM, built on OpenStreetMap data) that returns the road geometry. These are place coordinates, not your live location.
- Map tiles. The map is provided by Mapbox. Your phone requests map tiles from Mapbox, so Mapbox receives technical information such as your IP address and device details, under Mapbox's privacy policy.
We use these services only to run the features above. Each handles data under its own terms and privacy policy.
What we don't do
- We don't access your location. The app doesn't ask for it.
- We don't read your photo library. If you save your License card to Photos, the app asks for add-only permission, which lets it save a picture and nothing else.
- We don't use advertising or analytics tools in the app, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
- We don't sell your data.
Sharing
Nothing is shared unless you choose to. When you share your License card, it is a picture that you send through the iOS share sheet. It shows what's on the card, such as your stats, flags and a world map with your routes.
Accounts and new features
Milestone has no accounts today. If we add accounts, syncing or social features, we'll update this policy and tell you in the app before any of your data is stored on our servers.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data, such as access, correction and deletion. We hold no account data about you and your drives live on your device, so most of this is already in your hands. If you have a question or a request, email us.
Children
Milestone is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app about meaningful changes.
